Omi-HKDC™ shares knowledge and drives practical AI adoption in healthcare digital transformation

As AI continues to gain traction across the healthcare sector, the challenge lies not only in developing the technology itself, but also in how to implement AI safely, align it with healthcare workflows, and deliver tangible value to healthcare organizations.

To share knowledge and experience accumulated through real-world projects, Omi Japan has launched a knowledge-sharing initiative through Omi-HKDC™ (Healthtech Knowledge & Delivery Center), a dedicated organization focused on healthcare digital transformation. This seminar video marks the first installment in HKDC’s knowledge-sharing activities on healthcare DX.

Unlike conventional IT projects, healthcare digital transformation requires a deep understanding of medical workflows and operational processes, as well as stringent requirements for security, safety, accountability, and integration with existing systems. At the same time, professionals who can bridge healthcare and IT expertise and contribute throughout the entire process—from planning and design to implementation and operations—remain limited.

In response to these challenges, Omi Japan has developed the FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer) model, bringing together IT engineering capabilities, healthcare domain expertise, and AI application skills. FDEs work directly in healthcare environments to understand and address real-world challenges. HKDC serves as a platform for training and developing FDE talent while connecting knowledge gained from healthcare practice with design, development, and R&D activities to create solutions that are ready for real-world deployment. Omi Japan aims to build a team of 300 engineers in Japan by 2030, with 50% holding the Healthcare Information Technologist certification, up from the current 15%.

AI Agent Framework Designed for Healthcare

One of the key topics covered in the seminar is an AI Agent framework designed specifically for healthcare environments, incorporating requirements such as security, accountability, integration with existing systems, and alignment with operational workflows.

The video also introduces MediDial, an AI Agent for hospitals, developed by HKDC based on this framework. MediDial helps automate appointment scheduling and rescheduling, using AI to interact with and assist users. Notably, the development cycle for MediDial was shortened from several months to just a few weeks, demonstrating how the combination of healthcare domain knowledge, AI, and engineering capabilities can accelerate the delivery of practical solutions in healthcare.

The growing interest in practical healthcare AI was also reflected at Modern Hospital Show 2026, held in Japan in July 2026. A seminar featuring Mr. Tran Quoc Dung, Representative General Director of Omi Group JSC, and Mr. Shimokawa Tadahiro, Head of the IT Planning Promotion Department at Kyoto Hokenkai, attracted 210 attendees, exceeding the expected 150 participants.

This strong turnout highlights the growing interest in moving AI beyond technology itself and toward solutions that can be practically implemented and operated in real healthcare environments.

“We believe that what healthcare digital transformation needs is not simply the introduction of new technologies, but the transformation of those technologies into solutions that can operate effectively in real healthcare environments.

At Omi Japan, we have accumulated knowledge and experience through more than 15 years of developing healthcare systems, while also building a foundation that enables AI to reference and leverage this knowledge. This allows us to support customers from the upstream stages of their projects, ensure quality based on outcomes, and provide AI-integrated solutions through our AI Agent framework. HKDC plays a core role in these initiatives. Through this video, we hope to share Omi Japan’s vision for healthcare digital transformation and the efforts we are undertaking to make that vision a reality.”

Mr. Tran Quoc Dung – Representative General Director, Omi Group JSC

Looking ahead, Omi Japan will continue to develop HKDC as a hub connecting healthcare knowledge, AI technology, and practical implementation capabilities, while strengthening talent development, research, and knowledge sharing in healthcare AI and healthcare DX.

Through HKDC, OmiGroup aims to combine healthcare expertise, AI technology, and engineering capabilities to deliver highly practical healthcare DX solutions that create sustainable, tangible value for the healthcare sector.
