OmiGroup Attends KIT–ASEAN 2025 Scientific Conference at Hanoi Medical University
On the morning of December 12, 2025, Hanoi Medical University held the KIT–ASEAN 2025 Joint Conference, an annual scientific event marking 23 years of cooperation between the Kyoto Institute of Technology (Japan) and its network of partner universities in Asia.

The conference gathered a large number of prestigious scholars and scientists from Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. Prominent among them was Prof. Dr. Kamei Kaeko – Vice President of the Kyoto Institute of Technology and Honorary Professor of Hanoi Medical University, alongside leaders and faculty representatives from training institutions and research institutes in the region.

With a focus on updating advanced research trends, the KIT–ASEAN 2025 Conference centered its discussions on various cutting-edge fields, such as artificial intelligence in healthcare, biosensors, nanomaterials, cell and gene therapies, and modern molecular diagnostic techniques. In addition to the plenary session, the program featured two parallel thematic sessions on Biotechnology & Molecular Medicine and Digital Transformation & AI in Healthcare, alongside a Poster presentation session for young researchers, creating a vibrant and highly collaborative academic space.

During the Digital Transformation and AI in Healthcare discussion session, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang Nhung – AI Research Lead at OmiGroup – presented a scientific report titled “Root Cause Analysis based on Knowledge Graphs in Functional Medicine.” The presentation introduced OmiKG (Omi Knowledge Graph), a knowledge graph platform that supports root-cause analysis for chronic diseases, aiming to shift from treating symptoms to addressing the root causes of illnesses.

The research was implemented through close collaboration between OmiGroup's AI R&D team and doctors and medical experts from the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, and Hanoi Medical University. Accordingly, OmiKG demonstrates the capability to infer pathophysiological mechanisms at the molecular level with high accuracy and logical consistency, outperforming commercial LLM models in intensive functional medicine tasks. A case study on type 2 diabetes highlights its ability to model multi-pathway convergence from environmental factors and lifestyle habits specific to Vietnam, opening up the potential to develop clinical decision support platforms and personalized intervention tools in the future.
